NKBA Trends for 2010

By Jamie Janson June 17th, 2009

The Kitchen and Bath Design Show in Atlanta showcased many new design ideas and trends!  Modern design seems to be having a come back.

Kitchen

Glass backsplash was used on numerous displays.  The glasswas not just used as an accent like in past trends–but as the complete backsplash, filling 18″ of space.  Glass backsplash is a beautiful accent and reflects light in the kitchen to compliment the stainless appliances.  Another modern design trend is the dramatic use of white and black color schemes.  Pairing dark cherry espresso cabinets with a white Caesarstonecounter like “Blizzard” creates a stunning and bold effect.  Integrated appliances such as dishwashers drawers or built in microwaves located in a base cabinet add to the clean and functional design of a modern kitchen.

Bath

Floating cabinetsoffer a clean and open feel.  Instead of having your cabinets sit on the floor, they mount to the wall.  Or you can remove the toe kick and replace it with sleek legs so that it looks more like a piece of furniture rather than a cabinet.  Another trend that everyone is doing is to get rid of that old sliding glass shower door once and for all!  Instead switch to a seamless glass enclosure.  Custom designed glass enclosures really open up a bathroom and allow the tile design in the shower to stand out.
